Sammy Lui was widely regarded as one of Kenya’s most iconic voices during the late President Mwai Kibaki's administration, remembered for his eloquence during his decades-long broadcasting career.
President William Ruto, in his message of condolence, described the late Lui as “a dedicated public servant, a veteran broadcaster, and a respected State Master of Ceremonies whose voice became part of Kenya’s national identity.”
From his early days as one of Kenya’s pioneer journalists at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to his distinguished service at the Presidential Press Service, and later as Director of State Events, Sammy Lui’s career spanned decades of dedication to public communication and national service.
“Sammy Lui’s powerful and authoritative voice graced countless national ceremonies, guiding the nation through moments of pride, celebration, and reflection. His professionalism, humility, and commitment to excellence set a standard for generations of broadcasters and public servants,” President Ruto said.
