The U.S.-Kenya Alumni Association, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Kenya, is set to host the first-ever U.S.–Kenya Alumni Fair in Nairobi.
The event will mark a major milestone in the 60 years of U.S.–Kenya exchange programs that have shaped leaders, innovators, and changemakers across the country.
Bringing together over 300 alumni, the fair
will spotlight individuals who are transforming communities in fields ranging
from entrepreneurship and technology to healthcare, education, governance, and
climate action.
Benson Abila, Chairperson of the U.S.–Kenya
Alumni Association, described the event as a historic gathering that will
celebrate the impact of alumni across the country.
“This fair is not just a celebration of
history, it’s a showcase of the future. For 60 years, alumni of U.S. exchange
programs have been at the forefront of driving innovation and social change in
Kenya,” Abila said.
A highlight of the event will be the
unveiling of the “60 Alumni Stories” showcase, featuring groundbreaking
enterprises and initiatives led by alumni whose work is shaping Kenya’s future.
The fair will also include panel
discussions with industry leaders, as well as the participation of senior
government officials and representatives from the U.S. Embassy.
More than 8,000 Kenyans have participated
in different U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs such as the Mandela
Washington Fellowship, Fulbright, International Visitor Leadership Program
(IVLP), Tech Women, and the Humphrey Fellowship, among others.
Many of these alumni have gone on to create
award-winning enterprises, launch community-driven initiatives, and serve in
key leadership positions in both government and civil society.
