Their first major outing was in Embu County, where they sent a strong message of unity, declaring their resolve to form a formidable force capable of challenging President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The leaders were hosted by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has recently emerged as a central figure in the opposition coalition.
Gachagua, who appears keen to reclaim the Mt. Kenya political mantle from retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, said he was confident of rallying the region behind him to secure the united opposition’s presidential ticket.
"Tumekubaliana jana tutatoa kiongozi mmoja wa kupigana na kasongo," Gachagua pointed out.
Alongside him were former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, People's Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi.
The leaders assured supporters that they were committed to working together and would back whoever is eventually chosen as the coalition’s presidential candidate.
"Vile mmetuona, tuko tayari kuwafanyia kazi, msilegeze. Hata mkiletewa pesa kiasi gani, ukitaka kula kura ni yenu. Lakini kura yako, chunga maisha yako na kura yako," Karua noted.
During the rally, the opposition leaders sharply criticized President Ruto’s administration, accusing it of economic mismanagement and unfulfilled promises. They pledged to rectify these challenges if elected to form the next government.
They also called on Kenyan youth to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, urging them to “arm themselves with voter’s cards” as a tool for democratic change.
"Wakati wa kujikomboa ni sasa. Lazima kila mtu awache maneno, sio kupiga kura as I said. Kura ya kawaida, Ni kura ya kujikomboa," Kalonzo highlighted.
The Embu tour included several stopover rallies at Mkutano, Kiritiri, Runyenjes, and Embu Town, drawing large crowds eager to hear from the united opposition team.
