Kenya’s unbeaten lightweight champion Javan Buyu is confident of extending his perfect record to five wins in a row when he faces Abdul Hakim in one of the seven UFS Boxing bouts set for November 29 at the Edge Convention Centre in Nairobi.

Buyu has been training intensively in Nairobi ahead of the rematch, which comes just over a year since their first encounter on May 25, 2024, where he defeated Hakim in their professional debuts.

The 28-year-old fighter, who claimed the Kenya Lightweight Title after defeating Christopher Osicho in a ten-round contest on October 10, 2025, has enjoyed a flawless run since switching from mixed martial arts to professional boxing last year.

“For my fifth fight, I want to raise awareness and encourage men to open up and speak out. I’m confident I’ll win both inside and outside the ring. I’ve learned a lot about defense, power, and how to coordinate effectively with my corner and coaches.” Said Buyu.

Although the upcoming six-round lightweight contest will be a non-title fight, it carries a powerful message of mental health awareness, particularly among men, in line with November’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

The event is organized by UFS BXNG under the leadership of Maurice Odera and sanctioned by the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC), headed by President Reuben Ndolo.

Other matchups on the card include a six-round super welterweight fight between Michael Oduor and Justus Ndegwa, promising a night full of action and purpose.
