The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has rebutted claims made by Rigathi Gachagua on threats of violence ahead of the upcoming Mbeere North by-election.

This came after Gachagua alleged that he had gotten wind of widely circulated social media videos threatening violence against him ahead of the November 27 by-election, calling for Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja's immediate action and arrest of alleged perpetrators.

In its rejoinder, UDA told Gachagua that his letter "reads more like a satirical drama script" and is based on falsities.

UDA argued that Gachagua is only desperate to spark unrest and division and exposes his flawed political record of using "abusive, insulting and offensive language against leaders who have rejected your polarising political rhetoric".

The party further denied Gachagua's claims that the threats are being spread by close associates of UDA Chairperson and Embu County Governor Cecily Mbarire as well as Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, noting that Mbeere North residents have vowed to uphold calm during the campaign period.

UDA instead trained its guns on Gachagua, accusing him of swindling a Mbeere North Constituency MP candidate under the guise of issuing a non-existent DCP Party nomination certificate.

"Their ultimatum is clear, simple, and rooted in justice. As you plan to set foot in Mbeere territory, prepare to refund every penny you swindled from their kinsmen. This is not political opposition; it is a demand for basic financial accountability," he noted.

UDA therefore maintained that they will not cower from Gachagua's theatrics and will only focus on upholding peace in the area as it plans to campaign for its candidate Leo Wamuthende.

"You are well advised that the peace-loving people of Mbeere have no intentions of castrating you, interfering with any part of your anatomy, or retaining any," UDA noted.

"Their dignity is focused on revitalized development and transformative programmes being spearheaded by the broad-based government, not on your personal anatomy."

The Mbeere by-election will be held alongside the other 23 mini-polls set to be conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on November 27, 2025.
