Officers also recovered several suspected stolen items and a toy pistol believed to have been used in the crimes.
According to police reports, the student — a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate at Ramula Odowa Secondary School — was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation conducted within the school premises.
Upon interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to participating in multiple robbery incidents, including house break-ins, and provided police with the names of several accomplices.
Acting on this information, officers arrested one of the named suspects, identified as Japheth Ndege.
Authorities say the duo is part of a gang responsible for a string of thefts in the Nyabondo, Ndare Ramula, and Dirubi areas of Nyakach.
During subsequent recovery operations at the suspects’ hideouts, police confiscated an assortment of suspected stolen property, including laptops, tablets, and the toy pistol.
The items are believed to have been stolen from Kabete Primary School, Kabete AIC Church, and several business premises in Nyabondo that have recently suffered break-ins.
The suspects and the recovered items have since been booked at Ogoro Police Station as investigations continue.
