A Kisumu court on Wednesday released two suspects allegedly behind the busted motor vehicle theft syndicate on a Ksh.500,000 each with surety of a similar amount.

The prosecution, through the DCI investigators handling the case had earlier asked the court to detain the two suspects, Michael Mwaga and Peter Andei, for a period of 21 days.

However, Principal Magistrate Dennis Ogal dismissed the application saying the duration sought was too long and the charges are bailable.

He ruled that the prosecution has until October 13, to charge the duo.

The main suspect, Evans Otieno Meda, who was arrested on Wednesday, will be arraigned in court on Thursday.

Police yet again recovered another vehicle suspected to have been among those stolen, bringing the number to 13. They discovered the vehicle, Toyota Axio KDD 559J, at a local hospital parking yard.

The vehicle was towed to Migosi police station.
