Two suspects are facing charges of sexual assault, gang rape
and robbery with violence after the Kibera Law Court ordered that they be
remanded at Industrial Area Prison until October 30, 2025, for pre-trial.
It is alleged that Cleff Juma Mbaka and Mursal Kafe Masur
attacked and robbed a 40-year-old man at Mashimoni in Kibera after he had
visited a friend in the area. The two are also accused of sodomising the victim
before dumping him at Lang’ata cemetery.
The suspects are currently being held at Industrial Area
Remand Prison, where they will remain in custody until their pre-trial hearing
on October 31, 2025.
According to the victim and court documents obtained by
Citizen TV, the incident began around 3p.m. on October 1, 2025, when a
40-year-old man from Narok County boarded a matatu bound for Nairobi. His
destination was Kibera, where he intended to visit a friend.
By around 9p.m., he arrived at Makina Stage and called his
friend for directions. The friend then advised him to hand his phone to a
nearby boda boda rider who could help guide him to the exact location.
The rider offered to take him to his destination for Ksh.150.
Moments later, a second man, now identified as one of the suspects, joined the
ride, claiming he was heading in the same direction and suggesting they split
the fare. The unsuspecting victim sat sandwiched between the two men on the
motorbike.
Just two minutes into the ride, the motorbike stopped abruptly
at Mashimoni. The rider claimed he had run out of fuel. Suddenly, the passenger
seated behind the victim grabbed him in a chokehold, while the rider ordered
him to cooperate.
What followed was a brutal attack and robbery. The suspects
allegedly stole his Samsung A03 phone, Ksh.6,000 in cash, his national ID, and
driver’s license.
It is further alleged that they forced him to reveal his phone
password before making him swallow both his Airtel and Safaricom SIM cards in
an attempt to destroy evidence.
The victim managed to catch a glimpse of the motorbike’s
registration number, KMGW 412Q, before the rear passenger covered his mouth and
nose, leaving him unconscious.
From Mashimoni, while he was still unconscious, the suspects
allegedly transported and dumped him at Lang’ata cemetery before fleeing the
scene.
The next day, October 2, 2025, at around 4p.m., the victim
regained consciousness, naked except for socks, inside Lang’ata Cemetery.
Disoriented and in pain, he cried out for help before managing to reach
Lang’ata Police Station.
Before filing a report, the victim sought to use a toilet near
the cemetery entrance, where he discovered a polythene bag lodged in his rectum
and experienced severe pain.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital before being referred to
Nairobi Women’s Hospital, where he was admitted at the Hurlingham branch.
Medical examinations confirmed the presence of a foreign
object in his rectum. He later underwent surgery to remove it and was also
treated for a sexually transmitted infection, clear evidence pointing to sexual
assault.
The pre-trial hearing in the case is set to begin on October
30, 2025.
