Two schools and dozens of homes were destroyed Thursday evening following heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in Muhoroni Sub-county in Kisumu County.

Ngeny Primary School suffered a huge blow as the roofs of 7 classrooms were blown off by the strong winds.

In the adjacent Ngeny Secondary School, the winds destroyed the administration block and the school laboratory.

Several trees were also felled during the incident, but no student was injured.

Sospeter Ngere, the Muhoroni Constituency manager, revealed that close to 100 homes in Wangowe, Mibasi, Mikiria and Chemelil were also affected.

Ngere has called on well-wishers and both the national and county governments to move with speed and support the affected.
