Two Iranian nationals have been apprehended by police officers after being linked to a theft executed at a mobile phone shop within Thika area, Nairobi county.

According the the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), 56-year-old Heidari Mansoior Eslam and Babaei Ahmad Mirzaaga (40) had approached a mobile phone shop pretending to be customers when the shopkeeper identified them from a previous robbery incident that occurred a month ago.

With rising suspicion, the shopkeeper called his companion who upon arrival identified the Iranians and raised an alarm after confronting them.

"The other shopkeeper positively identified the two foreigners, as he was indeed a victim of their stupefying tactics, which had left him 15,000 shillings poorer a month ago," DCI wrote in a statement.

Law enforcement officers arrived on time to save the duo from the wrath of an irate crowd.

They will remain in custody at Thika Police Station awaiting arraignment.
