Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have arrested two suspects believed to be part of a criminal gang behind a string of robberies targeting motorists along the Eldoret-Malaba highway.

The duo, identified as William Simiyu and Byron Werunga, were apprehended in a joint operation conducted by officers from Matete and Webuye Police Stations following days of discreet surveillance.

According to the DCI, the suspects are linked to a series of late-night ambushes that have left travellers terrified and property stolen.

Upon interrogation, the pair led officers to their hideouts along River Nzoia and Nabuyola Village, where a cache of stolen goods was recovered. Among the items retrieved were three 6kg gas cylinders, assorted electronics, and vehicle batteries, all believed to have been looted from motorists attacked along the busy highway,” the DCI said.

The suspects are held in custody awaiting arraignment.
