Two people have been  arrested for allegedly robbing her British boyfriend of Ksh.800,000 in Nyali, Mombasa.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Samira Mumbi Kiarie had been pursuing the foreigner for months through the internet, confessing and making promises of eternal love.

The statement further states that the victim, minutes after arriving at the girl’s apartment in Nyali, was walked upon by two men. One claimed to be Samira’s husband, while the other guised himself as an officer, showing a fake police ID as proof.

The victim was further accused by the “husband “of wrecking his home while being threatened with arrest by the fake officer. The criminals went further to force the victim into transferring a sum of Ksh.800,000 into phone numbers they provided.

Upon receiving the cash, they walked the foreigner out of the apartment before vanishing into the night.

Detectives managed to capture and arrest Samira alongside one of her accomplices, Paul Webster Mangeni.

“Investigations have since established that the two are part of a notorious syndicate that lures foreigners through dating sites, sets them up in Airbnbs, and robs them of their hard-earned money,” DCI said in a statement.

Both suspects are currently under police custody, waiting for arraignment in court as the detectives continue to pursue their fellow accomplice, who is still on the run.
