Police in Waitaluk, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested a suspect identified as Evans Simiyu Wanyonyi, alias “Boyi,” following a Tuesday, dawn raid at his home in Chebarus village, ending what officers described as a prolonged manhunt.

In an intelligence-led operation by officers from Waitaluk Police Station, police said they raided the suspect’s residence and recovered assorted items believed to be stolen, including electronics and property suspected to be government stores.

Among the items recovered were police boots, a mess tin and hospital equipment, raising concerns over how such materials were obtained. Police also said crude weapons were found during the search.

In a follow-up operation, officers recovered additional items suspected to be stolen, including solar panels of various sizes, a solar battery and connecting cables.

Police said the exhibits have been documented and stored pending forensic examination and court proceedings, adding that several residents have identified some of the recovered items as their property.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, police said.

Authorities said operations targeting criminal networks in the area would continue.
