TikTok has removed more than half a million videos in Kenya between April and June 2025, as part of its ongoing global push to make the platform safer and more trustworthy.
According to the platform’s Quarter 2, 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report,
a total of 592,037
videos were taken down for violating TikTok’s Community
Guidelines.
The report noted that 92.9
percent of those videos were removed before
anyone viewed them, and 96.3 percent were deleted
within 24 hours of being posted.
Globally, TikTok took down over 189
million videos during the same period, representing just 0.7
percent of all content uploaded to the app.
Of these, 99.1 percent were proactively
detected, while TikTok’s AI moderation systems automatically deleted 163.9
million videos.
The company also purged nearly 77 million fake accounts,
along with 25.9
million suspected to belong to users under the age of 13.
TikTok says its safety strategy
combines “advanced automated moderation technologies” with the expertise of
thousands of trust and safety professionals worldwide.
The approach, it noted, helps curb harmful content ranging from
misinformation and hate speech to more insidious violations that can disrupt
the digital ecosystem.
For the first time, the company
also released data on enforcement related to TikTok LIVE
sessions. In the second quarter, 2.3 million LIVE sessions and over one
million creators faced actions such as warnings or
demonetization for breaching LIVE monetization rules.
TikTok says these warnings are designed to educate creators
and encourage responsible streaming rather than simply punish offenders.
The platform continues to urge
users to report any content, comments, or accounts that may violate its
standards directly through the app.
“By working together with our
community, we’re fostering a safe digital space where creativity can thrive,”
TikTok said in a statement.
