Tanzanian police have announced the arrest of Charles Onkuri Ongeta, a Kenyan- United States dual citizen.

According to the police, Onkuri attempted to enter Tanzania with four CS M68 hand grenades.

The suspect was arrested on November 16 at the Kenya-Tanzania, Sirari border, where he was in transit from Kenya to Tanzania in a Land Cruiser. Onkuri is said to be a 30-year-old sergeant serving in the U.S military.

"The explosives, according to the arms ownership law, even if he had asked for permission, he wouldn't have been permitted to enter the country with them," stated the Tanzanian police.

The police are conducting further investigations and questioning the suspect to ensure that necessary action, as per the law, can be taken against him.
