Ulinzi Stars have confirmed the re-appointment of Stephen
Ochola as the club’s interim head coach, marking his second stint in charge.
The announcement was made on October 28, 2025,
following Dunstan Nyaudo's dismissal after a poor run of results in the
early stages of the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season.
Ochola, a former Ulinzi Stars captain and midfielder, brings
vast experience and a deep understanding of the club’s culture.
During his playing days, he captained the soldiers to the
Kenyan Premier League title in 2010 and the KPL Top 8 Cup in 2011, earning
respect as one of the most disciplined and committed players in Ulinzi’s
history.
After a 13-year playing career, Ochola retired in 2017 and later transitioned into coaching. He had a brief spell as the men’s team head coach in 2021, during which time he guided the side to a memorable win against Vihiga
Bullets.
More recently, he was in charge of Ulinzi Starlets, the
club’s FKF Women Premier League team, between September and December 2024.
His latest appointment is crucial for Ulinzi
Stars, who have endured a difficult start to the current season.
The team sits 14th on the Premier League table with just
five points from five matches, having failed to win in their last four outings.
Their recent results include losses to Kakamega Homeboyz
(1–3) and Mara Sugar (1–2), draws against Kenya Police and Kariobangi Sharks,
and a single win over Murang’a SEAL.
In his return, Ochola faces the immediate challenge of
restoring confidence and consistency in the squad as they prepare to host Bidco
United this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Ulinzi Stars, in a statement, praised Ochola’s leadership,
discipline, and familiarity with the club’s values, saying his appointment
aligns perfectly with their long-term vision.
The club expressed confidence that his return will usher in
a “new chapter” for the soldiers.
