The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has received unqualified audit opinions from the Office of the Auditor General for three consecutive financial years, signalling improved financial management and compliance with public finance regulations.

The Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo-led State Department said the clean audit opinions mean the financial statements submitted to the Auditor General were found to be accurate and fully compliant with the relevant financial reporting standards.

An unqualified audit opinion is the highest rating issued by the Auditor General and indicates that an institution’s financial records present a true and fair view of its financial position without material misstatements.

The department said the achievement marks a sustained improvement compared to previous audit cycles that had recorded unresolved audit queries and compliance gaps.

According to the department, the consistent clean audits reflect strengthened internal financial controls, improved adherence to the Public Finance Management (PFM) regulations, and the timely resolution of audit issues.

It noted that the milestone aligns with the government’s Zero-Fault Audit Campaign championed by the Head of Public Service as part of the broader public service reform agenda being implemented by President William Ruto’s administration.

The campaign calls on public institutions to uphold high standards of accountability, transparency, and financial discipline in the management of public resources.

The department said it remains committed to maintaining sound financial governance and strengthening accountability mechanisms in the execution of its mandate.
