St. Anthony Kitale head coach Peter Mayoyo has called on Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association [KSSSA] to come up with hefty punishments to help curb age cheating in school games.
In a candid reflection with Citizen.Digital, Mayoyo said many schools have suffered
injustice in the 2025 school games competition
hence the need to take precautions and punish the culprits.
“It is sad to see that [age cheating]
happening in this era, it is not fair to teams that are taking part in the
competitions,” he lamented. “I am calling
on the association to come up with tougher punishment to tame the vice before
it gets worse,” said Mayoyo.
Several cases were reported in
this year's competition involving top teams leading to some of them being
disqualified and Mayoyo said “this is the only way to avoid the vice”.
“This has not started this year,
it has been happening in many years but it is so bad because it doesn’t give a
fair ground for competitions,” Mayoyo lamented.
St. Anthony were beaten by eventual national
champions St. Joseph Kitale in the
regional final but the veteran tactician has promised his side will bounce back
stronger in next year's competition.
“We will be back stronger, we are
creating a great team that will be very competitive and our fans should expect very
good results and entertaining football from us,” stated the head coach.
