The crucial fixture, kicking off at 2:00 PM, will determine which side joins Gucha Stars in Kenya’s second-tier football league next season.
The playoff comes after a Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) ruling that ordered a replay of Gucha Stars’ match against Nakuru Bucks, overturning an earlier decision that had automatically promoted Soy United.
With Gucha Stars’ promotion now confirmed, Soy must battle Bumbani for the final NSL slot.
Head coach Jeffers Odongo says his side has put the disappointment behind them and is fully focused on getting the job done.
“We had already started to prepare for the NSL, but this is a playoff,we will have to give our everything,” Odongo said. “It’s not a new thing for me because I’ve done the same before with Wazito FC.”
Odongo revealed that the team’s top striker is nursing a knock, but the technical bench will wait for the medical team’s report before making a final decision.
“We want to play in the NSL, so we have to win. My players have been okay in camp, though they had a little mental disruption because they were already prepared for the NSL. But they have quickly adapted to the change,” he added.
The coach also acknowledged the strength of their opponents, emphasizing the need for total concentration.
“The opponent will come prepared. They know Soy is a good team, but they’ll challenge us because they also want to play in the NSL,” Odongo noted.
Team forward Ambrose Sifuna echoed his coach’s confidence, expressing belief that Soy United will rise to the occasion.
“Preparations have been good, and even though the game will be tough, similar to a final, I know we’ll carry the day,” Sifuna said. “I urge our fans to show up — we won’t fail them.”
With both sides eyeing promotion, the Dandora clash promises intensity, passion, and determination — a true test of who deserves a place in the National Super League which has already played two rounds so far.
