Residents of Kiminini in Trans-Nzoia paused on Sunday to fundraise for the Linda Mwananchi caravan during a stopover in the town.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna received the contributions with both hands, cupping them together as he gathered the offerings from the crowd.

And when his hands could no longer hold the weight of the offerings, the Senator passed a carton box to the crowd, moving it from one pair of hands to another.

Residents reached into their pockets and contributed, some offering notes, others coins.

A fired-up Sifuna, speaking from the top of his vehicle, thanked the residents for standing with the Linda Mwananchi team.

"The people of Kiminini, I have counted the money you have contributed here today. I have the money in my hands. This money is enough to fuel our vehicles to Nairobi, Mombasa and Kitale," said Sifuna.

Sifuna, flanked by Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembea and other members of the Linda Mwananchi brigade, said he would rather owe the people of Kiminini money than owe wealthy individuals who would later run to the team making demands once Linda Mwananchi forms government in 2027.

The former ODM Secretary General echoed sentiments he made in a recent interview on Mulembe FM, saying he would rather rely on small contributions from millions of Kenyans than accept a massive donation from a single individual.

Sifuna recently rejected an offer by Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli to support his political campaign by fundraising Ksh.1 billion.

The Linda Mwananchi caravan is touring Bungoma County, having toured Trans-Nzoia County on Saturday.
