Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje continues to grow in confidence in England after producing a calm and disciplined performance as Charlton Athletic held West Bromwich Albion to a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

The Kenyan centre-back looked assured at the heart of defence, reading the game well and standing firm under pressure as Charlton Athletic battled for a valuable point away from home against West Bromwich Albion.

Fresh from earning his first start against Southampton over the weekend, Sichenje once again justified the faith shown in him by head coach Nathan Jones. The Harambee Stars defender stayed composed throughout, making timely clearances and keeping his shape as the hosts pushed forward.

West Brom, who are struggling for form in the Championship, thought they had done enough after taking the lead just before half-time. George Campbell rose highest at the back post to head home Alex Mowatt’s corner in stoppage time, ending their recent goal drought.

The Baggies had gone four league matches without scoring and were desperate to protect their advantage. They created more chances in the second half, but Josh Maja and Isaac Price both failed to convert from promising positions.

Charlton punished those missed opportunities in the 70th minute. Lyndon Dykes latched onto Kayne Ramsay’s through ball and calmly slotted the ball between Max O’Leary’s legs to level the score and silence the home crowd.

The draw stretches West Brom’s winless run to 10 Championship matches, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone and piling pressure on head coach Eric Ramsay.

For Kenyan fans, the bigger positive was Sichenje’s steady rise. With back-to-back strong performances, the 22-year-old defender is beginning to stamp his authority in English football — a promising sign for both his club and Harambee Stars.
