Speaking during the party's National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, Kalonzo told voters to 'shoot Ruto at the ballot', a witty remark that referenced the president's recent call for police officers to shoot violent protesters in the legs.
He implored Kenyans to register as voters to make 'Wantam', a viral slogannering term popularised to ensure that Ruto will not serve a second term in office, a reality.
"Ruto ordered for you to be shot not in the head but in the legs because you dared to exercise your Constitutional rights. I urge all of you here to shoot Ruto at the ballot," he stated.
"If you have not yet, I implore you to register to vote. How many of you are ready to shoot Ruto at the ballot? This is what will make Ruto wantam."
Further, Kalonzo formally accepted to carry the party's presidential flag ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the promise of a new Kenya should he clinch the top seat.
Part of Kalonzo's agenda, should he become president, would be to cut unnecessary taxes such as the Affordable Housing Levy, create a functional youth enterprise fund to create jobs, lower the costs of fuel and electricity, adequately fund the schools and deliver quality healthcare among others.
The Wiper leader added that freedom of expression would not be curtailed as he promised to put an end to abductions.
"These are not empty promises; they are concrete plans. Practical, people-centered, and achievable. This is what a Kalonzo Musyoka-led Administration will stand for - justice, opportunity, and dignity for all," he noted.
Kalonzo was joined by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Democratic Party (DP) leader Justin Muturi.
