The second edition of the Sharia Compliance and Halal Business Expo is set to take place from October 10 to 12 at BBS Mall in Nairobi, bringing together more than 100 exhibitors from Kenya, East Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
The event, organized by TJ Premier Events in collaboration
with the Sharia Compliance and Halal Business Expo Secretariat, aims to
showcase ethical business practices while creating new opportunities for
enterprises across sectors such as agribusiness, tourism, finance, real estate,
cosmetics, and fashion.
Josephat Nyongesa, a director at TJ Premier Events, said the
expo’s goal is to empower enterprises while promoting ethical business conduct.
“We are expecting over 3,000 visitors over the three days. This expo is not
just for the Muslim community, as many initially thought, but for anyone
running their business in an ethical way,” he said.
Ridwan Yusuf, CEO of the Sharia Compliance and Halal
Business Expo, noted that the event seeks to broaden public understanding of
halal beyond food.
“Halal is way bigger than food. We are talking about halal
logistics, halal cosmetics, halal fashion, and halal supply chains,” he
explained. “Our exhibitors are also offering discounts of between 10% and 30%
on products and services, including real estate, banking, perfumes, and
clothing.”
Organizers emphasized that Sharia compliance is not limited
to Muslims. Tony Kiamba, also a director at TJ Premier Events, said,
“Anybody who is doing
ethical business can be part of this expo. This is an opportunity to showcase
and network with both local and international enterprises.”
The three-day expo, themed “Empowering Enterprises Through
Ethical Business”, will feature an SME section dedicated to small businesses
seeking exposure and partnerships with larger corporates.
With growing demand for Sharia-compliant products and
services across East Africa, organizers say the expo provides a gateway for
businesses to tap into a rapidly expanding local and international market.
