The Social Health Authority (SHA) Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) Mercy Mwangangi has notified healthcare providers of a widespread service
interruption and downtime affecting the Digital Health Agency's services, hence
affecting SHA operations.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mwangangi explained that a
major downtime occurred, affecting the DHA's systems.
DHA is a government body that maintains the digital health
ecosystem needed to provide SHA services.
Some of the DHA's programs include Afya Yangu portal, Kenya
Health Worker Registry, Kenya Client Registry, Health Information Exchange,
Drug Registry, National Ambulance Service Platform and National eLearning
platform among others.
The agency primarily serves a wide range of stakeholders such
as government agencies, healthcare providers, developers and vendors.
"We understand the critical nature of these services for
your daily operations and patient care, and we sincerely apologise for the
significant inconvenience and disruption this is causing," she
stated.
Mwangangi reaffirmed that technical teams are working round the clock to identify the root cause and restore to normalcy.
"We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging period. We are committed to resolving this issue urgently," she explained.
"We can confirm that all critical facility-facing and patient-facing healthcare services have been restored and are now fully operational," she stated.
