Senator Mungatana's family mourns death of eight-year-old daughter

Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana and his wife, Mwanaisha Chidzuga, the Deputy Government Spokesperson are mourning the passing of their last-born daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana.
Mungatana’s family says Amal died on Sunday while undergoing
treatment at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Muthaiga.
According to the family, Amal had experienced health issues since
birth, eight years ago, and had received treatment both in Kenya and abroad.
The death has drawn messages of condolence from leaders
including President William Ruto. In his message shared on X, the president
mourned the girl and conveyed his condolences to Senator Mungatana and his
family.
“The loss of a child is a sorrow beyond measure. At this
profoundly difficult moment, I join your family, friends and all who knew and
loved Amal in mourning a young life taken far too soon. May God grant you and
your family strength, comfort and peace, and Amal’s soul rest in eternal peace,”
the president said.
PLP leader Martha Karua also shared a message of condolence
to the bereaved family.
“You have walked a long and difficult road with your
daughter through her illness, and I pray God holds your hearts gently through
this terrible loss, surrounds you with His comfort, and grant your precious
daughter eternal rest,” Karua said.
Burial arrangements are expected to take place on Friday, 18
September 2026.
