The titles were issued at Machinery Market in Kibwezi on Monday as part of the government’s National Titling Programme, which seeks to formalise land ownership and strengthen property rights.
The government says the programme is intended to address land ownership uncertainties and enable beneficiaries to use their property for investment and other economic activities.
Secure land ownership can also improve access to credit where lenders accept land as collateral, while providing greater certainty for households planning long-term investments.
The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning is implementing the programme through land adjudication, surveying, mapping and registration to facilitate the issuance of title deeds to eligible landowners.
Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary Nixon Korir accompanied the President during the issuance exercise.
The latest distribution adds to the government’s ongoing efforts to expand access to legally recognised land ownership across the country.
