Speaking in Kitui County during a church service at the ACK St. Martin’s Cathedral, the Head of State drummed up support for the broad-based government, saying unity in the aftermath of the 2024 Gen Z-led protests has brought stability.
A call for national unity featured prominently in the President’s address, with Ruto justifying the formulation of the broad-based arrangement after the anti-tax protests in 2024 as a bridge to prosperity.
"Where there is unity, God commands a blessing. That is to say, where there is unity, God commands a blessing. And that is why I made a commitment to work with everybody, which is why I created a broad-based government to unite all Kenyans,” said Ruto.
The President’s next agenda item? Courting the homeboy—Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, with the Head of State prophesying a partnership with the former Vice President.
"Of course, you cannot force everyone. There are some who have said they do not want to work together. That is their decision. But my desire and God's will, as I see it, are to work together, and we will continue to do so. And I am telling the people of Ukambani, this government is your government, and I will give you your rightful share,” said Ruto.
Reliving his former Deputy’s statements—often at odds with the office he held then—the President labelled Rigathi Gachagua an agent of division who thrived on pulling the country apart.
"We came here for a thanksgiving service, and you remember the story that was told back then, where it was said by that other person that you do not have votes. Fortunately, God has done what He has done, and we no longer have this talk of 'shares'. We are one people,” said Ruto.
In Meru County, his Deputy cautioned the Mt. Kenya region against wasting the chance to ascend to the Presidency.
“Don’t play ping-pong with a chance like this at the Presidency. Just like in football, like in the ongoing World Cup, the best-placed person to score receives the ball, and he puts the ball in the net, and we all celebrate,” said Kindiki.
Kindiki described the opposition as selfish in failing to accommodate the interests of the region.
“In the other formation, this region is not under consideration to take over the Presidency anytime in the near future. But with the one under the stewardship of President Ruto, the fireman is just next to him. Don’t take fruitful chances like this for granted. Do not be deceived, this is the best possible opportunity for us to ascend to the Presidency."
Both the President and his Deputy also touted the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund as game-changers in carrying out development projects across the country.
