Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) continued their ruthless
form at the FIBA Zone Five Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) 2025
Qualifiers, demolishing Gladiators of Burundi 100–42 in their third Pool 'A' encounter on Wednesday night at Nyayo Gymnasium.
The Dockers, who have maintained a perfect record in
the tournament, dominated from start to finish with emphatic wins in all four
quarters.
The national women's league champions opened strongly, taking the first quarter 22–06
before tightening their grip with a commanding 26–5 second-quarter performance
to head into halftime leading 48–11.
After the break, the Kenyan giants showed no
mercy, outscoring the Burundians 31–16 in the third quarter before sealing the
victory with a 21–15 win in the final period.
New signing Betty Kananu was in a class of her own,
dropping an impressive 27 points to steer the Dockers to another resounding
victory.
The foreign-based trio of Alima Doumbia from Ivory
Coast, Ifunanya Okoro from Nigeria, and Aminata Ly from Senegal combined for 40
points, underlining their growing influence in the squad.
All twelve KPA players got on the score sheet except
Daisy Awino Onyango, highlighting the team’s offensive depth and balance.
The win keeps KPA on top of Pool A with six points,
tied with Rwanda’s APR, who also have six points after beating Magic Stormers
of Uganda 70–50 earlier today.
KPA and APR will clash Thursday at 7:30 PM in a much-anticipated showdown to decide the Pool A leader ahead of the knockout stage.
