Royal Media Services (RMS), in partnership with Zizi Afrique Foundation, will conduct a 4-episode Education Townhall series starting October 13, 2025.

Speaking during the launch of the partnership at the RMS headquarters in Nairobi, the Group Editorial Director, Mr Linus Kaikai, said the forums will involve members of the public seeking answers from policymakers, government, unions and other stakeholders, while also unpacking national issues “for the public with the public”.

“This is a great opportunity for members of the public to demand answers from education policy makers on the issues facing the education sector,” said Mr Kaikai.

Under the theme ‘Transition from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School’, the upcoming Townhall session will be centred on the Competency-Based Education and the national system of education under implementation in Kenya.

The Townhall will take the format of a panel discussion, with a live audience panel that will include officials from the Ministry of Education, parliament, government representatives, Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) and non-state actors in the education sector. The session will also feature teachers, parent representatives, and education policy analysts championing better learning outcomes.

Zizi Afrique Foundation Director for Advocacy and Partnerships, Mr Samuel Otieno, said the upcoming engagements will help address the challenges facing the education sector and provide meaningful solutions that will inform policy and regulation.

“By having citizens and policy leaders speak freely about what should be done in the education sector, you provide a platform that promotes public participation for a solution-based approach,” said Mr Otieno.

The Monday Townhall episodes, which will be broadcast once a month in Nairobi, Isiolo, Bungoma and Muranga counties, will air alongside special news features highlighting the education status in the county.

The second episode is scheduled for October 27, 2025, with the third episode kicking off on November 24, 2025. The final Citizen Townhall episode is expected to take place on January 19, 2026.
