The military aircraft carrying the body of the late former
Prime Minister Raila Odinga has arrived at his Opoda farm home in Bondo, Siaya
County, for overnight vigil.
The body left Kisumu a few minutes past 3pm after public viewing
was conducted at the Mamboleo grounds for the better part of the day.
According to the programme issued by the funeral steering
committee, there will be commendation prayers overseen by the Anglican Church
of Kenya (ACK).
Raila’s family members, led by his wife Ida Odinga and brother
Senator Oburu Oginga, have since urged for calm and a peaceful procession from
his supporters ahead of his burial on Sunday.
The funeral service, which will be held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) grounds, is expected to begin at 7am with the arrival of guests and family and dignitaries.
