The Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National
Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, on Tuesday led the National Steering
Committee in inspecting the preparations for the upcoming Mashujaa Day
celebrations, set to take place on October 20, 2025, at Ithookwe Stadium in
Kitui County.
This year’s celebrations, to be held under the theme “Energy”,
will honor Kenya’s heroes and heroines while highlighting the government’s
transformative achievements in the energy sector.
During the visit, Dr. Omollo inspected Ithookwe Stadium, the
main venue, to assess infrastructural readiness, logistical planning, and
security arrangements.
He confirmed that over 92 percent of the work had been
completed, with the remaining tasks—including roofing, seating, and access
points—expected to be finalized in the coming days.
In addition to the stadium, the PS also toured the Kitui
Airstrip, the refurbished County Commissioners Residence, and major access
roads being upgraded by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya
Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).
These works will facilitate smooth movement for dignitaries,
security personnel, and members of the public attending the national event.
Dr. Omollo emphasized the government’s commitment to
delivering seamless, secure, and inclusive celebrations, noting that the
infrastructural investments being made will leave a lasting impact on Kitui
County.
