This marks the third consecutive year the insurer is backing the family race, reinforcing its dedication to promoting health, protection, and community resilience.
The company will also serve as the official life insurer of the marathon, ensuring participants feel protected as they take on the challenge. Prudential Kenya CEO Gwen Kinisu said the sponsorship reflects the firm’s mission to support healthier lifestyles through active living.
“We chose to sponsor the Family Run because it aligns with our vision of promoting healthier lifestyles. The 5KM run goes beyond being a race — it allows parents, children and loved ones to run side by side, making it a true celebration of family and community,” Kinisu said.
She added that the event also provides an opportunity to support Futuremakers, a Standard Chartered Bank initiative that empowers young people with life skills, employability, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Standard Chartered has already contributed Ksh.130 million to this year’s marathon. According to Joyce Kibe, the bank’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing for Kenya and Africa, Prudential’s contribution will help enhance both the race experience and wellness outcomes for families.
“With Prudential’s sponsorship, we can continue to create social impact in communities while also contributing positively to the economy,” Kibe said.
Since its inception, Futuremakers has empowered more than 90,000 girls through sports, supported over 54,000 youth with job and entrepreneurship training, and created nearly 1,400 jobs through supported businesses.
The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon remains Kenya’s largest single-day sporting event, attracting professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and families nationwide. The 2025 edition is expected to draw thousands of participants, highlighting the role of sport in promoting wellness and social transformation.
