Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday named the Cabinet that would support her second term in office.

“This afternoon, I have announced the appointment of the Cabinet and Deputy Ministers. Together, we will work to fulfil the fundamental responsibility of serving the citizens,” President Suluhu said.

In a televised address from Chamwino State House, Dodoma, President Samia named 27 ministers and 29 deputy ministers, appointing her daughter Wamu Hafidh Ameir as Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology.

Wamu, 43, is the Member of Parliament for Makunduchi Constituency in Zanzibar and retained her parliamentary seat under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in the October 29, 2025, general election.

She also appointed Tanzania's fourth President's son, Ridhiwani Jakya Kikwete, as the Minister of Public Service Management and Good Governance in the President’s office.

Ridhiwani, 46, is the CCM legislator representing Chalinze Constituency in Pwani region. His father is widely credited with playing a key role in President Samia’s rise within CCM and the Presidency.

“This responsibility is both a duty and a debt that we must repay to the people by serving them with passion, hard work and great integrity. I wish you all the best. May God guide and lead you,” she said.

In another major appointment, the Head of State named Tanzania’s ambassador to China, Khamis Mussa Omar, as the new Minister of Finance.

However, the reshuffle saw at least seven ministers from her previous administration dropped.

Those relieved from their duties include: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr Doto Biteko; Hussein Bashe (Agriculture); Innocent Bashungwa (Home Affairs); Jenista Mhagama (Health); Dr Seleman Jafo (Industries and Trade); Dr Pindi Chana (Natural Resources and Tourism) and Dr Damas Ndumbaro (Constitution and Legal Affairs).

The newly appointed Cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday morning at Chamwino State House, Dodoma.
