Speaking during a church service in Samburu County, President Ruto noted that political leaders should desist from smearing the government's development ambitions, saying that it cripples gains made so far.
He also urged Kenyans to desist from being skeptical about his ambitious plans, saying that a progressive nation must have a common goal and a united people.
"I see many people who speak negatively about our country, I seem any people who confess many negative things about our country," he said.
"We have a country like no other. We have a blessed nation and we must work for it and believe in it. If you're a leader and you don't believe in Kenya, you lack valuable opinions and a plan to transform the nation and everything is negative, you are dragging us behind."
President Ruto maintained that Kenya has made significant gains towards developing the nation, saying that he will remain determined to move the country from its third world status.
President Ruto has previously announced his long-term plan of transforming Kenya into a First World nation within the next 30 years.
He further expressed optimism that Kenya will become a first-world nation by 2055, owing to the promising development agendas under his administration.
“We have been a third world for far too long and it is now time. By the effort of our hands and the unity of the people of Kenya we want to move this nation to a first-world country by 2055,’’ he noted on October 12.
His ambition has however been met with stiff contention, as dissenting leaders have questioned why the ambitious Vision 2030 has been abandoned.
