Police launch Investigation after woman’s body found in River Sasala

According to residents, the discovery was made after they spotted a suspicious sack floating in the water. 

On closer inspection, they realized it contained the remains of a woman and immediately alerted authorities.

The body was badly decomposed making it hard to make an identification .

Area Deputy Chief John Andati Barasa confirmed the incident and said inquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and how her body ended up in the river.

He urged families with missing female relatives to visit the Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary to assist in identifying the victim and support the ongoing investigation.
