Organisers of the 22nd Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon have promised a world-class race experience as the event returns on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Uhuru Gardens.

The marathon, now World Athletics Road Race Label accredited, is set to attract more than 30,000 participants, including over 200 elite runners.

At a sponsor and media engagement held in Nairobi, organisers revealed that the marathon continues to grow in scale and impact.

With 43 sponsors on board, the event has secured a record KSh 233 million in sponsorships, up from KSh 173 million in 2024.

Joyce Kibe, Standard Chartered’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing for Kenya and Africa, said the enhanced sponsorship guarantees participants a seamless experience.

“This support ensures that from the moment you leave your home to the finish line, you are taken care of — from hydration and nutrition to medical support and safety. The Standard Chartered Marathon has grown into a world-class event and a proud Kenyan fixture,” Kibe said.

Beyond athletics, Kibe highlighted the marathon’s contribution to Future makers, the bank’s flagship social impact initiative that empowers youth, women, and persons with disabilities. Since its inception, the race has raised KSh 850 million, with this year’s target set at KSh 75 million. “By running, you are helping change lives,” she added.

The marathon will feature multiple race categories: the 42km full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km run, 5km Family Fun Run, a wheelchair race, plus the CEO & Corporate Challenges. Organisers have pledged tighter logistics, expanded hydration points, and heightened safety measures to cater to the record numbers.

Other partners voiced their commitment to making the 2025 edition memorable. Senorin Wasike, head of marketing at Kwal, said their involvement promotes health and responsible enjoyment.

“With Heineken Zero, we are telling participants they can celebrate healthily and without guilt. It’s about offering alternatives that support a wellness lifestyle,” she said.

Benard Kinyanjui, who is also the head of corporate affairs at Prudential Life Assurance, is attending for the third consecutive year, praised the marathon’s family-centered approach.

“The 5km Family Fun Run stands out for us. It reflects our values of active living and protecting future generations,” he said.

With registrations already maxed out at 30,000, anticipation is high for Kenya’s biggest road race. Organisers assure athletes and fans alike of a seamless, safe, and inspirational experience on October 26.
