Kiambu Aquatics Annual Masters Swimming Championships are set
to make waves on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
All eyes will be on Potterhouse School, Runda, where this
year’s edition is already breaking records, drawing the biggest turnout yet, and
proving that Masters Swimming in Kenya has officially arrived on the big stage.
This year’s edition has already outpaced all expectations,
boasting the largest number of participants in its history.
With over 300 swimmers and 45 teams ready to dive in, the
event has become a symbol of the rising tide of Masters Swimming in Kenya.
Gedion Kioko is the governor of Kiambu Aquatics and a celebrated
international master swimmer whose call for wider participation has been met
with an overwhelming response.
“The growing interest shows that Masters Swimming is not
just about age; it’s about passion and the will to keep competing,” Kioko says.
Clubs from across the country and beyond are converging in
Runda for what promises to be a weekend of speed and endurance.
Among them are The Harpoons, Crawfordians, Genesis Swim
Club, Tipwa Tipwa, United Swimming Club, Water Warriors, Parklands Sports Club,
NextGen, Peponi School, Nakuru Athletics Swim Club, Arukah Health, SDPK,
Safaricom PLC, Comprehensive Swim Fitness, Olive Fin, Hospital Hill Alumni,
USIU-Africa, Potterhouse Team, Kenya Airways, and Team Tanzania.
The swimming calendar remains packed. On November 1–2, 2025,
the Inter-County Invitational Swimming Championship will unfold at Mpesa
Foundation Academy in Thika, drawing elite swimmers from across Kenya.
The meet will showcase athletic excellence and set the tone
for the ongoing Kiambu Aquatics Swimming League 2025–2026.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s flag is already flying high abroad. Nine
Kenyan master swimmers, led by Coach Jacqueline Macharia from Kiambu Aquatics,
are currently representing the country at the inaugural Zimbabwe Masters
Swimming Championship in Harare.
Their self-sponsored participation underscores the
resilience and dedication that define the Masters category, proof that passion,
not funding, keeps the sport alive.
The league will
culminate in a grand awards gala next year, a night set to celebrate the best
performers, with glitz, recognition, and big rewards.
As the countdown to Runda continues, one thing is certain
the Kiambu Aquatics Masters Championship is more than a competition
