The midday operation, conducted jointly with the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the National Police Service (NPS), led to the recovery of two basins of bhang, 55 packets of export cigarettes, 20 litres of chang’aa, and several Rizlers. The items, estimated to be worth about Ksh.800,000, were reportedly part of a distribution network supplying students in nearby learning institutions.
One suspect was arrested at the scene while another escaped and is being pursued by police. Investigations show part of the consignment had already been sent to Manyatta, Kisumu, and another outlet in Maseno town.
NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa said the operation was part of ongoing efforts under the 100-Day Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) against drug and substance abuse.
“This operation underscores our resolve to dismantle criminal drug networks that prey on the youth. The Rapid Results Initiative remains in force, and NACADA will continue coordinating multi-agency efforts to ensure our communities and learning institutions are free from drugs,” said Dr. Omerikwa.
The Maseno raid adds to recent enforcement actions under the RRI aimed at dismantling networks supplying drugs to young people across the country.
