Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Charles Odero remains optimistic that his side can still mount a serious challenge for promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League next season despite their mid-table position in the National Super League standings.

‎Speaking to Citizen Digital ahead of their upcoming fixture against Kisumu  All Stars, Odero said his team still has plenty to fight for this season. The tactician noted that with 16 matches left before the campaign concludes, Nzoia Sugar has enough time to turn things around and climb the standings.

‎Odero emphasised that success will largely depend on the players’ commitment and determination in the remaining matches.

‎“We still have several games to play. A league is a marathon and promotion can only be decided in the last two matches. We have been here before, our target is still to earn promotion to the Premier League,” he said.

‎Currently placed 11th in the league table with 30 points, Nzoia Sugar trail league leaders Mombasa United by 16 points, leaving them with significant ground to cover in the race for promotion.

‎Despite the gap, the coach believes consistent performances in the remaining fixtures could revive their hopes of returning to the FKF Premier League.

‎Focus shifts to Kisumu All Stars clash

‎As they aim to begin their climb up the table, Nzoia Sugar will face Kisumu All Stars in an away match scheduled for Sunday at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium.

‎Odero said the team has prepared well for the encounter and expressed confidence that they can return home with all three points.

‎"We beat them in the first leg, they are a good side and I believe they will be seeking to redeem themselves after losing in their previous fixture away. So we know it is not going to be easy."

‎The match is expected to be a crucial test for Nzoia Sugar as they look to build momentum in the final stretch of the season.

‎A win against Kisumu All Stars could provide a much-needed boost for the side as they attempt to revive their promotion ambitions in the remaining matches.
