Migori Youth FC head coach Samuel Owano has linked his side's
strong start to the 2025/2026 National Super League (NSL) season to adequate
preparation.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Owano described his
team's victories in the first two games against Mwatate United and Talanta as the
result of good planning before each encounter.
The team’s focus is now firmly on the third fixture this
weekend against Kisumu All Stars, as they aim to maintain their winning streak.
"Playing against Kisumu All Stars has never
been easy. However, we are determined to collect maximum points when we meet
because we have been facing one match at a time this season," Owano said.
Migori Youth’s success in those matches has been
primarily driven by their prolific striker, Syphas Otieno, who has scored in
both games.
Coach Owano praised Otieno for his discipline and outstanding
performance on the pitch, expressing confidence that he could finish the season
as the league’s top scorer.
"Syphas is still a young lady who is growing
gradually. He has faced challenges on and off the pitch since he left MOFA.
"To me, he is a good striker, hardworking and clinical, more
than some of the forwards I have worked with," Owano added.
Migori Youth began their campaign with a 1-0
victory over Mwatate United, followed by another 1-0 win against Talanta in
their second match.
