The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has appointed senior officials to lead upcoming multi-sport events as the country sharpens its focus on the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games and beyond.
At its Executive Board meeting held on Thursday in Nairobi, NOC-K Acting Secretary General Francis Karugu was named the Kenya's Arica Youth Games Chef de Mission while Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) second deputy president Kenneth Tonui will serve as the CEO.

The Board also set November 2025 for the Presidents and Secretary Generals Annual Seminar, which will discuss governance, sports development, and Kenya’s pathway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
In line with its gender balance drive, NOC-K co-opted Elynah Shiveka, a former hockey international and sports journalist, and Angela Luchivya, Secretary General of the Kenya Basketball Federation and a former national team captain.
The meeting closed on a historic note as two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge attended his first in-person session as Athletes’ Representative, underlining the growing influence of athletes in shaping Kenya’s Olympic movement.
