A new platform designed to improve access to resources for people with deafblindness and multi-sensory impairments (MSI) has been launched in Kenya.

The Global Deafblindness Resource Hub, developed by Sense International Kenya (SIK), was officially unveiled at an event in Nairobi attended by government officials, disability experts, and development partners.

The online hub brings together practical guides, lived experiences, and knowledge intended to support people with deafblindness and their caregivers.

According to SIK, the platform aims to reduce barriers to information by providing accessible content that can be used both online and offline. It is expected to contribute to greater inclusion in education, healthcare, and livelihoods.

Speaking at the launch, Fred Haga, Head of the Directorate of Special Needs Education at the Ministry of Education, said the initiative would strengthen services for learners with deafblindness, calling on stakeholders to contribute content and expertise.

The launch took place during Deaf Awareness Week 2025 and included a demonstration of the platform, as well as a panel discussion on digital inclusion. Organizers urged collaboration among government, civil society, and the private sector to promote the digital rights of persons with disabilities.

The resource hub is now accessible online and is intended to serve as a space for parents, teachers, and organizations to share knowledge and strengthen support for people with deafblindness and MSI.
