Speaking on Thursday, Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia emphasized the need for moderation, particularly in alcohol consumption, and cautioned drivers to exercise vigilance on the roads as traffic volumes increase during the holidays.
He reminded residents that while the season is a time for joy and togetherness, it should not be marred by recklessness or loss of life.
He appealed to the community to look out for one another and to make responsible decisions that promote safety and unity.
The County Commissioner also used the occasion to address social issues affecting families, urging parents to remain alert and protect their children—especially girls—from early pregnancies, which tend to rise during the holiday period when schools are closed.
In addition, Lotiatia issued a warning to residents of the Transmara region to be on high alert following reports of a fraudulent cholera vaccination exercise.
He advised locals to only seek medical services from recognized health facilities and to demand identification from anyone claiming to be a health officer.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety throughout the festive period, calling for cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies to curb crime, prevent road accidents, and protect vulnerable members of society.
