Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and in partnership with the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI), the event will bring together over 100 global exhibitors, 50 expert speakers, and 4,000 trade visitors to explore solutions driving East Africa’s clean energy transition.
Sungrow will be the Principal Sponsor, while Huawei FusionSolar takes the role of Headline Sponsor. Key partners include KenGen, KPLC, EPRA, GIZ Kenya, and Nairobi City County.
According to Nigel Sun, Head of Sungrow Sub-Saharan Africa, Kenya stands out as “a true renewable energy leader in Africa,” sourcing nearly all its electricity from clean sources and targeting a fully renewable grid by 2030.
Kenya currently derives about 91% of its power from renewable sources—47% geothermal, 30% hydro, 12% wind, and 2% solar. The country ranks first in Africa and sixth globally in geothermal capacity, with vast potential for expansion.
The three-day event will feature policy discussions, investment forums, and technology showcases aimed at accelerating the region’s transition to sustainable power.
Key sessions will include the KenGen Energy Champion’s Luncheon, the Nairobi City County Green Protocol Business Plan, and presentations from leading energy firms such as LONGi Solar, Hexing, JA Solar, and Powernsun.
Powerelec Kenya 2025 is expected to be the largest edition yet, aligning with Kenya’s goal to achieve 100% renewable energy generation by the end of the decade.
