Officers at Shaurimoyo Police Station in Buruburu have seized approximately 800 litres of chang’aa in Majengo slums.

Police officers conducted a targeted operation in the area following credible intelligence on the sale of illicit brew.

During the raid, the police seized the chang’aa, concealed in polythene bags at a suspected illicit brewing den.

One suspect was apprehended and is currently in police custody, awaiting arraignment.

"This operation reaffirms the National Police Service’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the crackdown on illicit brews and related criminal activities, to dismantle illegal alcohol networks, and to protect the public from the dangers posed by the illicit liquor trade," police said.

Police also commended the community for providing vital information that helped in the operation.
