The raid conducted on Wednesday involved officers from NACADA, the National Police Service (NPS), and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
According to NACADA, the operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering targeting a network suspected of distributing fake alcoholic beverages in the area. The seized drinks, packaged under popular brand names, are believed to pose serious health risks to consumers.
NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr Anthony Omerikwa said the crackdown is part of a broader, sustained effort to curb the illicit alcohol trade and protect public health.
“This operation in Kisii is part of the wider Rapid Results Initiative against illicit alcohol and drugs. Our message to those involved in this illegal trade is clear — we are coming for you,” Dr Omerikwa said.
He added that NACADA has observed a worrying rise in substance abuse across the country and pledged that enforcement efforts will continue.
“We will pursue every lead and dismantle every network that threatens the safety and well-being of our communities,” he stated.
The confiscated products and evidence have been handed over to the relevant authorities for investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects. NACADA has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any activities related to illegal alcohol or drug distribution.
