MP Kuria Kimani slams Gachagua over alleged tribal remarks on school placements

Speaking at Michatha Secondary School during the commissioning of a classroom and laboratory funded by the NG-CDF Molo Constituency, Kuria described Gachagua’s comments as retrogressive, primitive, and dangerous, warning that they risk fueling tribalism within learning institutions.

Kuria urged Gachagua to refrain from interfering in education matters and instead uphold the principles of statesmanship if he genuinely cares about the welfare of Kenyans.

He emphasized that school placement is a national exercise guided by merit and equity, not regional or ethnic considerations.

Earlier this week, the former Deputy President had reportedly called on school heads in the Central region to prioritise learners from the area during the ongoing Grade 10 placement, with students expected to report next week.

The Molo legislator further urged leaders from the Central region to remain mindful of marginalised and underdeveloped areas and to support President William Ruto’s agenda of promoting regional balance and inclusivity in national development.
