Motorists in Mombasa have been advised to expect temporary traffic disruption along Moi Avenue on Sunday morning, March 15, as authorities carry out emergency repair works on a rail bridge.

In a public notice issued on Friday, Kenya Railways announced that a section of Moi Avenue will be closed on Sunday between 6:00 am and 10:00 am.

The affected section will stretch from the Moi Avenue–Tangana Road roundabout to the Moi Avenue–Mogadishu Road roundabout.

According to the notice, the temporary closure is intended to facilitate scheduled emergency repair works on the Mbaraki Rail Over Road Bridge, located along the busy road.

Motorists travelling from KPA Gate 10 and the Docks area were advised to use Mogadishu Road, Zanzibar Road and Shimanzi Road as alternative routes.

Those heading to KPA Gate 10 and the Docks area were advised to use Tangana Road, Mijikenda Street, Lumumba Road and Shimanzi Road.

Kenya Railways urged road users to observe the traffic management measures that will be in place and comply with directions issued by police officers and traffic marshals at the site.

"Kenya Railways regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public's cooperation as these essential works are undertaken to ensure the safety and reliability of railway infrastructure," the notice read in part.
