Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) head coach Charles Bruno has praised his players for their determination and character despite suffering their first loss of the season - a 1-0 defeat to Kibera Black Stars in their FKF National Super League (NSL) Gameweek 3 clash at Hope Centre Grounds, Kawangware, on Sunday.
A lone
range goal from Brian Odhiambo just before halftime handed the hosts their
second win of the campaign, ending MOFA’s perfect start to the 2025/26 season.
Speaking
after the match, Bruno admitted his side began sluggishly but lauded their
second-half display, where they created several chances but failed to convert.
“First of all, I just want to appreciate the fans for turning up,” Bruno said. “We started a bit slow in the first half and gave them too much room. But in the second half, the boys showed great character. We created a lot of chances - only the final touch was missing. I’m happy with the effort and attitude.”
The
coach emphasized that the result would serve as a learning moment as they
prepare for their next fixture.
“It’s
football - sometimes it doesn’t go your way. We’ll go back, fix what needs to
be fixed, and come back stronger,” he added.
MOFA had
earlier beaten Nairobi City Stars 1-0 in their season opener and edged Vihiga
United by the same scoreline in Gameweek 2, collecting six points before their
first defeat.
Elsewhere,
in other NSL results, Mombasa United maintained their strong start with a 1-0
win over Luanda Villa SC, while Vihiga United and Naivas FC settled for a goalless
draw. FC Talanta also shared spoils with 3K FC after a 0-0 stalemate.
On
Sunday, Nairobi City Stars continued their fine form with a 1-0 win over Kabati
Youth, as MCF FC thrashed Mwatate United 3-0 away from home. Fortune Sacco and
Nzoia Sugar played to a goalless draw, while Migori Youth edged Kisumu AllStars
2-1 in an entertaining clash.
Despite the setback, MOFA FC remain among the early pace-setters in the NSL table and will look to bounce back when they return home next weekend.
