Reigning Miss University Kenya 2025, Pearl Rowena Indona Rowe from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, will represent Kenya as a tourism ambassador ahead of the global pageant.

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, announced Miss Rowa’s send-off on Tuesday. As Kenya’s official representative at the forthcoming World Miss University pageant in Cambodia on December 17, 2025, Miss Rowa is expected to promote Kenya’s tourist offerings and cultural heritage on an international level.

The world Miss University Pageant is a global event held every year in Seoul, Korea that dates back to 1986 in line with the United Nations’ resolution of 1986. The event is to select a World Miss University Peace Corps representative in a competition amongst university students, with an average of about 70 contestants annually.

The competition includes contests in talent, ethnic costume and formal wear, and a speech addressing global issues.

Miss Rowa, as Kenya’s tourism ambassador, will raise the significant platform provided by the international pageant to highlight  Kenya’s deep heritage through traditional attire, arts and music, promoting the country’s image to a global audience.

She is expected to use her international visibility to tell and promote the story of Kenya’s unique wildlife and scenery, making Kenya a place known for its efforts to protect wildlife, and making it the best place for eco-tourists and those who wish to experience culture deeply.

"She represents the modern face of our nation with her ambitious, educated, and connected with her cultural roots. Miss Rowe’s mission perfectly aligns with our strategic objectives to promote Kenya through authentic narratives. Her journey to Cambodia is a national project of cultural diplomacy," said CS Miano.

Uriri Member of Parliament Hon. Nyamita, who accompanied Miss Rowe, further expresses his support.

“As leaders, we have a responsibility to nurture and spotlight the next generation of ambassadors who carry Kenya’s story to the world. Miss Rowe’s journey is not only a personal triumph but a reflection of our nation’s youthful brilliance, innovation, and cultural pride. I am deeply proud to support her as she represents Kenya on the global stage, showcasing the very best of who we are as a people," said Nyamita.
